Indianapolis Engagement Session / Ali & Kelson

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

Ali, Kelson, and I had a gorgeous evening this spring for their engagement session. Ali showed me their outfits and I instantly had a few spots in mind. For anyone who doesn't know me, I am OBSESSED with pops of color and also making galleries super cohesive. This teal wall made a great pop of color and also accented their bright eyes so well! With their second outfit, I chose to keep the mustards and blue theme doing with some fun posing in an alley way. When shooting with multiple outfit changes, whether its a couple, senior, or family, I think is imperative that the images flow and look cohesive. As the professional, I keep in mind the colors of their outfits and also the aesthetic of their home when choosing backgrounds; I recommend limiting your colors to 3-4 in any given photo shoot (clothes, backgrounds, accents, accessories, etc).

We strolled around Downtown Franklin before all of this pandemic madness happened, as Ali shared their engagement story with me.

"Our first vacation was in Marco Island, FL when we started dating. This past December we had a couples trip planned with some friends. Kelson moved our flights to a day before our friends (me not knowing the reason why!). Before our friends got down, Kelson and I rented a boat for the day to explore the water. We pulled up to an island and Kelson asked if I wanted to go on a walk on the beach. While walking on the beach, Kelson popped the question! The ring was in his swim trunks the entire time!"

Scroll down to see a few of my favorites from their engagement session. I can not wait to capture their special day in December!

Here is the color story that best fits their style and preference!
